The Association
Recently, 25 VMFA-251 Marines held a reunion in Peachtree City, Ga.
Marines present saw service with the squadron from the 1950s to 1980s. We also
had three former commanding officers attend.
After a discussion, it has been decided to form an association for all
Marines who served with 251 at any time from WW2 to the present. The aim is to
perpetuate its history and to provide college scholarships for descendants of
251 Marines (this will take time implement). A quarterly newsletter is also
planned. Right now it's all in the preliminary stage. Updates will be posted
here as we get nearer to launch date. Stay tuned.
Also, another reunion will be held - the date is yet to be determined.
In order to file for 501c3 non profit status and to establish a scholarship
fund, we will need to submit a working constitution and a tentative list of
names of those to take on the responsibilities of the following offices:
President - I am willing to do this until we elect our first batch of
officers at the next scheduled reunion (TBD).
Vice President North -
Vice President South -
Vice President Central -
Vice President West -
Secretary -
Treasurer - savvy with the books and IRS regs!
Historian - Dave Leppard
Newsletter Editor - savvy with desktop publishing
