VMFA-251 Reunion

VMFA-251 will be holding a reunion April 6-8, 2017 at the Ashton Inn and Suites in Pensacola, Florida. It is open to anyone with VMFA-251 from its activation on Dec. 1 1941 to the present, and family. All are welcome to attend

29 June 1944

On 29 June 1944, VMO-251 began combat operations from Piva North Airfield, Bougainville. The target for the day was AA gun emplacements near Rabaul. Four divisions (16 Corsairs) led by Humberd (CO), Furlow, Gerety amd Jennings dropped 12 of 16 1,000 pound bombs right in the target area, resulting in a commendation from higher command for the excellent results!
